Registration (when borrowing for the first time)

  • Those who live, work or attend school in Bungotakada City or those who live in the neighboring municipalities (Usa City, Kitsuki City and Kunisaki City) are eligible to obtain a library card.
  • Please fill out the card application form provided at the library and bring it with an identification document shown below to the information desk. Your library card will be issued immediately.
  • Your card is valid for five years and needs to be renewed every five years. (Once completed the renewal procedures, you can continue to use the card you have.)
  • When having changed the name or address or having lost your card, please come to the information desk with an identification document shown below.

Borrowing books and audio-visual materials

  • Please bring your library card, and you may borrow books with the automatic lending machine.
    *Some materials, such as audio-visuals materials, may only be checked out at the information desk. Other materials, such as the latest issues of magazines, may not be taken out of the library. Please read them in the library.
  • You may not borrow books when you hold overdue books.
  • If the library material you borrowed is lost, stained or damaged, you shall compensate for the material. Please handle it with care.

Returning books

  • You can return books with the automatic returning machine.
    *Please return some materials, such as audio-visuals materials, at the return desk.
  • When the library is closed, please put books in the book drop on the north side of the library.
    *Large-size books and audio-visual materials may not be returned when the library is closed.

Reservation Service

  • You may reserve a material if it has already been borrowed by another user.
  • You may put a hold on up to 10 books, 3 magazines, and 3 audio-visual materials.
  • You may request through your home computer or the library computer. (A password needs to be registered on the library's website.) Your re request can be made at the library as well.
  • We will contact you by e-mail when the reserved material is ready. When your reservation has been made at the library, we will call you.
  • The reserved book can be put on hold for one week after we contact you. If you cannot come and pick it up by the deadline, the reservation will be cancelled.
  • You may not reserve books when you hold overdue books.

Reference Service (when you want to search something)

  • In the library, we are helping the users who come and seek for information make use of the library's materials and search for materials they need.
  • Please feel free to come and ask us anything, such as the whereabouts of materials and small questions of everyday life.

Photocopying

  • Photocopying library materials is permitted within the limits of the Copyright Act. You must submit the application form for photocopy provided.
  • Only copies of library materials can be made on the copy machines.
